Trump mocks Biden’s slip of the tongue on Egypt

Former US President Donald Trump mocked his successor, Joe Biden, after the latter mistakenly identified Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi as the president of Mexico.

Biden made statements published by the White House account on the X platform (formerly Twitter), early Friday morning, when he said: “Initially, the president of Mexico (sic), Sisi, did not want to open the gate to (allow) humanitarian material to get in. I talked to him. I convinced him to open the gate.”

Trump responded with posts on his accounts of a map that identified Egypt as Mexico, in what appeared to be an attempt to mock Biden’s lapse.

Egypt’s Presidency officially responded to the US President’s claims about Sisi’s position on the current developments in Gaza.

In a statement it said: “From the very first moment, Egypt opened the Rafah border crossing from its side without any restrictions and mobilized massive humanitarian aid and relief flowing from both Egypt itself and countries worldwide, who delivered their support directly to al-Arish Airport.”

“Egypt has exerted significant pressure on all concerned parties to ensure the flow of this aid into the sector. However, the persistent bombing of the Palestinian side of the crossing by Israel, which was repeated four times, obstructed and halted the delivery process,” it stressed.
