Protesters rally before Abdeen presidential palace

Protesters blocked the gate of the presidential palace in Abdeen Tuesday saying that officials in the complaints bureau had not responded to their grievances, while a number of special needs protesters organized a sit-in to demand better public services.

Mostafa Eid, a protester, said that a five percent quota in government jobs for special needs people should be put into effect. Another protester threatened to light himself on fire.

Some protesters headed to the US embassy, threatening to stage a sit-in to ask for political asylum on the basis of being oppressed in Egypt.

Al-Masry Al-Youm said the number of people going to the complaints bureau in the Abdeen presidential palace decreased after protesters blocked the entrance and argued with workers.

Sources within the bureau argued that the bureau has in fact started considering complaints and contacting citizens who filed them.
