Palestinian president Abbas to meet Sisi for talks in Cairo

President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi will receive Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in Cairo on Monday, the second day of his official two-day visit to Egypt.

The two leaders will discuss the recent developments in Palestine as well as situations in the Middle East.

On Sunday, Abbas met with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry in Cairo.

The Palestinian president informed Shoukry of recent developments in the Palestinian issue, highlighting the ongoing "racist" actions and policies of the Israeli government and settlers that undermine Palesinian rights.

He also stressed the need to end the occupation of Palestinian land and create a Palestinian state.

Abbas highlighted efforts to agree a timescale for establishing a draft resolution at the UN Security Council regarding the settlements, which he says represent a barrier to peace.

He expressed his appreciation for Egypt’s efforts in supporting the Palestinian cause and people at every international and regional event, as well as the creation of a Palestinian state with its capital in East Jerusalem.
