Mo Salah only two goals away from being the highest scorer in the UEFA Championships league

Egyptian star Mohamed Salah’s scoring balance in the Champions League rose to 42 goals


He is now  only two goals away from being equal with Didier Drogba, the African player with the highest score of goals in the UEFA European Champions league.

Salah also became the second highest scoring player for an English team in the Champions League, by scoring 35 goals for Liverpool.

Salah made the two new records, after he scored a goal against Rangers in the Champions League, on Tuesday.

Anfield stadium hosted the two teams’ match in the framework of the third round of the group stage matches, for the 2022/23 season.

Salah scored the second goal in the 53rd minute of the match, from a penalty kick.

Salah became the second highest scorer for Liverpool in the English Premier League, with 120 goals, after Liverpool-Manchester United match on August 22.

Salah scored the Liverpool goal in the 82nd minute of the match held Monday against Manchester United in the third round of the English Premier League.

Liverpool lost against its host and historical rival, Manchester United, 2-1.

With this goal, Salah has scored more goals in all competitions against Manchester United than any other player in the history of Liverpool, with a score of ten goals, beating legendary player Steven Gerrard who scored total nine goals against Manchester United.

Salah became the second player in the history of Liverpool, to score in four consecutive league matches against Man United, after Dick Forshaw in 1925-1926 and 1926-1927.

Finally, Salah was able to equal Gerrard’s number as the second highest scorer for Liverpool in the English Premier League, with 120 goals.

Salah joined Liverpool coming from Italy’s Roma in 2017, and was announced top scorer in the English Premier League on three occasions.

He recently renewed his contract with the Liverpool until 2025.

The football superstar was nominated for the Sports Personality of the Year award in the UK in 2022, presented by the Ethnicity Awards.

Salah was crowned with several individual awards during 2022, most notably PFA Players’ Player of the Year, FWA Footballer of the Year, and the player of the year in Liverpool FC.

He also won the Golden Boot award with 23 goals, and the award for the best playmaker with his assists in 13 goals, in the Premier League competition last season, and he was crowned with Liverpool in the FA Cup and EFL Cup titles.
