Govt seeks more diesel imports via international tenders

Egypt is seeking to increase its reserve of diesel and oil fuel through international tenders for importing the product, according to Amr Mostafa, deputy director of the state’s Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation.
He noted that the EGPC is working to secure an adequate stock of basic petroleum commodities before the new year.
Mostafa told Al-Masry Al-Youm that the EGPC has already announced tenders for purchasing diesel and gasoline from international markets to cover the needs for the first quarter of 2014, taking into consideration the annual consumption increase of 4 to 7 percent.
He told Turkish Anadolu Agency that the authority opened a tender for importing 270,000 tons of diesel for the operation of electricity plants, explaining that power plants consume a daily of 18.000 tons.
The deadline for receiving bidders’ offers is 15 December.
