Former housing minister sentenced to three years in SODIC case

The Cairo Criminal Court sentenced former Housing Minister Ibrahim Suleiman to three years in prison in the SODIC case on Monday

A previous court had sentenced Suleiman and businessman Magdy Rasekh to five years, also ordering them to return LE970 million to the state treasury and pay a fine of a similar amount. It had also sentenced Ezzat Abdel Raouf Abdel Qader, former head of the Urban Communities Authority’s commercial and real estate affairs department, to one year in prison and fined him LE81 million.

The court also sentenced Fouad Madbouly, Hassan Khaled Fadel and Mohamed Ahmed Abdel Dayem, the former vice presidents of the Urban Communities Authority, to a suspended one year in prison, but the Court of Cassation overruled all verdicts and ordered a retrial for the defendants.
