Dorra Zarrouk responds to attacks against her marriage

Tunisian actress Dorra defended herself on Monday against harsh criticism she has received for reportedly second wife of architect Hany Saad, assuring that he had separated from his first wife.

In a statement to the “This Morning” program on the Tunisian Radio Mosaïque, Dorra confirmed that she “is not the second wife”, adding: “Saad has separated from his first wife, and I thank everyone who congratulated me. For those who spread this rumor and try to fish in troubled waters, may God guide you.”

The program thanked Dorra for sending them an audio clip on the morning following her wedding which took place on Monday.

“Everyone is free in their personal life and free in their choices. Marriage is the natural development that our Lord has directed us to in order to legitimately culminate our relationships, and I chose a man I love,” she added.

Dorra added that the pandemic made her unable to hold a wedding in Tunisia.

Instead, her wedding on Sunday was held at al-Gouna, Hurghada, at the Red Sea in the presence of many of her friends in the artistic community – most notably Elham Shaheen, Khaled al-Sawy, Sherif Salama, Laila Elwi, Kinda Alloush, and Bushra.

Former Tunisian parliament member Fatma Mseddi has slammed actress Dorra over reports that she has wed an Egyptian man who is already married. Mseddi said that Dorra humiliated Tunisian women everywhere.

Tunisian law considers marriage to a second wife a crime punishable by law.

Article 18 of the Personal Status Code stipulates that polygamy is forbidden, and that whoever marries before obtaining a legal divorce from a previous spouse shall be punished with imprisonment for a year and a fine of 240,000 francs, or one of the two punishments, even if the new marriage is not legally concluded.

On Sunday, Dorra announced her marriage to Saad, and shared photos of them together on Instagram.
