The Confederation of African Football on Tuesday has set the dates for the Egyptian national team’s matches in the African qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.
The draw for the African qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup finals placed Egypt in Group A with five teams: Burkina Faso, Guinea-Bissau, Sierra Leone, Ethiopia and Djibouti.
Up to 54 African teams are participating in the continent’s qualifiers for the World Cup 2026, all participating countries in the African Union divided into nine groups, with six teams in each group.
Dates of Egypt’s national team matches in the World Cup 2026 qualifiers:
- The 1st round, Egypt vs. Djibouti, home, between November 13-21 2023.
- The 2nd round Sierra Leone vs. Egypt, away, between November 13-21 2023.
- The 3rd round, Egypt vs. Burkina Faso, home, between June 3-11 2024.
- The 4th round, Guinea-Bissau vs. Egypt, away, between June 3-11 2024.
- The 5th round, Ethiopia vs. Egypt, away, between March 17-25 2025.
- The 6th round, Egypt vs. Sierra Leone, home, between March 17-25 2025
- The 6th round, Egypt vs. Ethiopia, home, between September 1-9 2025.
- The 8th round, Burkina vs. Egypt, away, between September 1-9 2025
- The 9th round, Djibouti vs. Egypt, away, between October 6-14 2025
- The 10th round, Egypt vs. Guinea-Bissau, home, between October 6-14 2025.
The first-place teams in the nine groups will qualify for the World Cup competitions directly, after the number of African seats increased to nine.
The top four teams in second place will be selected to participate in a continental supplement.
