Bashir receives new Egyptian ambassador to Khartoum


Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir on Monday received Hossam Issa, the new Egyptian ambassador to Khartoum, who handed over his credentials as ambassador to Bashir and conveyed to the Sudanese president greetings from President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.

Issa said that his duties involve taking into account the interests of the two countries on the basis that the security, stability and development of Sudan is also an integral part of Egypt’s national security, stability and development.

He also stressed his intention to push forward bilateral relations between the two countries to integration in all fields, especially with regard to major strategic projects such as electricity and rail linkage, and joint production in a number of important industries such as petrochemicals, agriculture and animal production, alongside providing scholarships for Sudanese students at Al-Azhar’s institutes.

Bashir stressed Sudan’s keenness to push forward Egyptian-Sudanese relations in all fields, promoting and developing it’s historical and strategic ties with Egypt to better serving the two nations’ citizens.

The meeting was attended by the Sudanese Foreign Minister Eldirdiri Mohamed Ahmed, senior Sudanese Foreign Ministry officials, as well as members of the Egyptian diplomatic mission in Khartoum.
