Attorney General demands that Mubarak appear in Cairo court

Ousted President Hosni Mubarak must be brought to Cairo to appear in court on Wednesday, Egyptian Attorney General Abdel Meguid Mahmoud informed the Egyptian Interior Minister Mansour Essawy on Sunday.

State-owned Middle East news agency MENA said Essawy received the letter at the end of Sunday's cabinet meeting, which was chaired by Prime Minister Essam Sharaf.

Cabinet spokesman Mohammed Hegazy said that Essawy, in coordination with Health Minister Amr Helmy, made the necessary arrangements for bringing Mubarak to Cairo.

On 11 February, Mubarak left Cairo and headed for the Red Sea coastal city of Sharm el-Sheikh, after giving up power as the result of a popular revolt which lasted 18 days.

Mubarak entered the Sharm el-Sheikh Hospital in April after prosecutors began questioning him on charges of profiteering and involvement in killing protesters during the revolution.
